Assistant Manager of the château
Château Saint-Pierre de Mejans, a wine-growing estate and a former priory from the 12thth century, is looking for a motivated and dynamic person for its 5 guest rooms and two gîtes. Nestled in a green setting within the Luberon Natural Regional Park in Provence, the estate is located 3 km from the charming village of Lourmarin – labelled one of the most beautiful villages in France. This exceptional place built by the monks, and renovated in 2021, offers its guests a stay among the vines inspired by nature and wellbeing.
We are a small team looking for a friendly, independent and versatile person – with a good team spirit. Your mission is to guarantee an impeccable guest experience while ensuring the smooth day-to-day running of the site, under the direction of the Château Manager.
Job description
ACCOMMODATION
- Oversee guest reception (check-in / check-out, stay follow-up)
- Ensure the quality of the rooms and common areas (cleanliness, comfort, presentation)
- Manage breakfasts according to the schedule
- Coordinate housekeeping and laundry
- Manage reservations, schedules and availability (OTA, website, internal schedule)
- Be the main point of contact for guests before, during and after their stay
- Handle specific requests professionally
- Contribute to the continuous improvement of the guest experience
- Monitor stock levels (linen, welcome products, consumables)
WINE TOURISM/SALES AT THE CELLAR DOOR
- Responsible for conducting historical tours and tastings as needed under the supervision of the Château Manager
- Able to take wine orders
- Help with wine tourism events at the château (concerts, brunches, private dinners, etc.)
ASSISTANCE TO THE CHÂTEAU MANAGER
- Assist with communications (customer emails, social networks, content updates)
- Take part in the organisation and smooth running of events (tastings, private hire, group stays)
- Help with the logistical preparation of events
- Welcome and accompany guests during events
- Provide operational support to the Site Manager as needed
- Contribute to the continuous improvement of processes and the customer experience
- Put forward ideas on the organisation and development of activities

Qualifications
- Over 1 year’s experience in hospitality desired
- From CAP up to BAC + 5
- Own vehicle Permit B1
- Master the Office suite and administrative tasks
- Have good interpersonal skills and strong written and verbal communication skills
- Ability to be proactive and solve problems effectively and professionally
- Be well organised, know how to manage your time and priorities well
- Demonstrate a high sense of service and be able to work independently
- Proficiency in French and English, a third language is a plus
- Available at weekends, on public holidays, and weekday evenings as needed
Accommodation possible at the château as needed
Housekeeper – versatile
We are looking for a trustworthy person to join our 15th-century château, in a calm and privileged setting, for the tourist season.
Your duties
- Prepare, set up and manage breakfast
- Welcome guests with discretion and professionalism
- Ensure the upkeep of the rooms and common areas
- Manage linen and welcome products
- Ensure the cleanliness, comfort and image of the place
Profile sought
- Independent, organised and reliable
- Attention to detail, cleanliness and service orientation
- Discretion and honesty essential
- Experience in hotels, guest houses or holiday cottages appreciated
Conditions
- Seasonal fixed-term contract (April to September / October)
- Part-time 25 hours/week
- Salary according to experience – based on the hourly minimum wage (SMIC)

Internship – Accommodation and Wine Tourism Assistant (6-month contract)
We are looking for a dynamic, motivated, smiling, creative and positive person to join our team and assist us in all our duties. This would be ideal for someone who wants to take part in all aspects of welcoming guests – wine, accommodation, events, creation of new projects.
Your duties will be:
- Learn the history of the château and the profiles of our wines in order to share an educational experience with our clients from all over the world.
- Welcome and advise customers at the château – in the shop and in accommodation
- Host tastings and conduct guided tours in English
- Take part in the various events organised during the season
- Assist both teams – in the shop and in accommodation with the tasks necessary to guarantee our clients' satisfaction
- Contribute to the development of digital communication – social media, photos, videos, etc.
Given the size of our organisation, you will be required to be versatile and to support the team on tasks linked to the shop and the hotel business.
Desired profile
Knowledge of the world of wine, from an oenotourism course, and an interest in the sector.
Experience in hospitality or catering is a plus.
Versatile, good interpersonal skills, good presentation, autonomous and smiling, good writing skills and spelling.
Level of study: Bac+2/3; Master 1 and 2
Skills:
Fluent in English, good level of French (French lessons on site if needed). Another language would be a plus. Proficient with IT tools (Office Suite + graphic creativity software).
Additional details:
An exceptional working environment with accommodation at the château.
4-6 month internship starting from April/May with remuneration as per the agreement.
