Shelby Loizeaux is a fiction writer from Berkeley, California, and is now based in New York. She holds an MFA in fiction writing from The New School and received the PEN America\/Robert J. Dau Short Story Prize for Emerging Writers, which recognises emerging short-story writers.

Her work explores intimacy, desire and the ways in which relationships can gradually become transactional. Shelby also teaches creative writing in primary schools.

She is delighted to join the community at Château Saint-Pierre de Mejans, where she hopes to work on her second novel, the story of two couples from the San Francisco Bay Area whose lives become increasingly intertwined around a surrogacy project.
